I have the honour to report for the information

of His Excellency the Governor regarding the cases of Plague that

have occurred in the Gaol.

The cases have been as follows:-

24th. April. 1. Cheung Kun lu, male, act. 37. Admitted to Gaol,

on remand. Died on day of admission, suddenly. Body removed to

Public Mortuary, and diagnosed Plague by Dr. Hunter after internal

examination.

16th. May. 2. Assistant Warder 1sher Singh. Had been living at

2 Sun Wai Li Street, top floor. A case of Elague occurred on the

floor below on 9th. May. He removed to 72, Hollywood Road on 10th.

May. He had slight fever on 15th. May, and plague was diagnosed on

18th. May, Infection was manifestly contracted at 2 Sun Wal Li

Street, or, at least, all probability points to that.

The case was Bubonic, and proved fatal on 21st.

22nd. May.

3. Chan Sing, male, act. 23. Admitted to Gaol, 20th.

May. Had bden living at 32, New Temple Street, Yaumati. Was located

during his two days residence in Gaol with 58 other prisoners in

the corridors. Infected probably at Yaunati.

Septicaemic. Died

24th. May.

27th. May.

4. Leung Chan, male, act. 18. Admitted to Gaol, 25th.

May. Had been living in Yaunati, but could not name the Street.

Also located in corridors. Infected probably at Yaumati.

Septicaemic.

Died 31st. May.

28th. May.

5. Assistant Ward er Gurmakh Singh.

8. Assistant Warder Mahtab Ali.
